Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Hospital Cooperative Laundry, Inc. at 6225 E. 38th Ave, Denver, CO 80207: On and before December 12, 2019, the employer did not ensure the ingoing nip points were properly guarded to prevent employees from having any part of their body in the danger zone during operation in that the safety interlock to the backside guard of the Air Chicago Small Piece Folder machine #5 was bypassed during trouble shooting activities by maintenance personnel resulting in the machine being operated in continuous run mode without effective guards in place. This condition exposed the employees to amputation and laceration hazards.
