Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.132(f)(1): The employer shall provide training to each employee who is required by this section to use PPE. Each such employee shall be trained to know at least the following: (i) When PPE is necessary. (ii) What PPE is necessary. (iii) How to properly don, doff, adjust, and wear PPE. (iv) The limitations of the PPE. (v) The proper care, maintenance, useful life and disposal of the PPE. On or about September 9, 2019, an employee was injured while unloading a tanker that was filled with concentrated potassium hydroxide, which leaked and spilled into his boot. The employee was wearing his pant leg tucked into his boot. The employer did not train the employees on how to properly don, doff, adjust, and wear the rubber boots. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
