29 CFR 1910.101(b): The in-plant handling, storage, and utilization of all compressed gases in cylinders, portable tanks, rail tankcars, or motor vehicle cargo tanks were not in accordance with Compressed Gas Association Pamphlet P-1-1965, which is incorporated by reference as specified in 29CFR 1910.6: The employer does not ensure compressed gas cylinders for helium are being stored in accordance with Compressed Gas Association Pamphlet P-1-1965. This violation was observed on or about May 30, 2019 at an outdoor cylinder storage area near the maintenance building as follows: a. Three (3) stored Helium compressed gas cylinders lack installed valve protection caps. b. A stored Helium compressed gas cylinder lacks an ICC label for the compressed gas contained. c. Three (3) Helium compressed gas cylinders stored near containers of flammable liquids. This exposes employees to fire, explosion, and struck-by hazards. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation describing the steps taken to ensure compressed gas cylinders are stored in accordance with Compressed Gas Association Pamphlet P-1-1965.
