Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.501(b)(3): Each employee in a hoist area was not protected from falling 6 feet or more to lower levels by guardrail systems or personal fall arrest systems: a) UMC, Inc. at 3002 Peoria Street in Aurora, CO 80010: On or before May 3, 2019, the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from fall hazards while performing construction work on a residential apartment complex. Employees of UMC Inc. used a wooden materials hoisting basket built by another subcontractor on location to hoist equipment to various levels of an apartment complex. The employer did not install guard rail systems in the hoist area nor did the employer have fall protection onsite for the employees to use during the hoisting process. This exposed employees to struck by and fall hazards while working with the basket from heights greater than 10 feet.
