Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.333(c)(3)(i)(A): When an unqualified person is working in an elevated position near overhead lines, the location shall be such that the person and the longest conductive object he or she may contact cannot come closer to any unguarded, energized overhead line than the following distances: On 24 April 2019, at a worksite located at 1435 S. Villa Park Ave. Villa Park, IL. 60181, an unqualified employee was tasked with trimming tree branches in close proximity to a 72,000 voltage Active Non-insulated power line. The employee was sitting on a tree limb that measured 5 feet 10 inches away from the live line and was using a powered pole saw that measured 12 feet 9 inches. This exposed the employee to electrical shock hazard. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
