29 CFR 1910.138(b): Employers did not base the selection of the appropriate hand protection on an evaluation of the performance characteristics of the hand protection relative to the task(s) performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the hazards and the potential hazards identified: a) EMCOR Pentagon: On or about February 05, 2019, an employee moving and lifting an approximate 360-pound motor with a 4 x 4 wooden lever was not provided with appropriate hand protection as a result the tip of his left middle finger was severed. Abatement certification and documentation required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date and method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement. Abatement documentation shall include documents demonstrating that abatement is complete, such as evidence of the purchase or repair of equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement or other written records.
