Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001D Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.502(d)(16)(iii): Personal fall arrest systems, when stopping a fall, shall be rigged such that an employee can neither free fall more than 6 feet (1.8 m), nor contact any lower level: (a) MRG Construction LLC, at 5959 N Dunkirk Street, Denver, CO: On or about 10/12/18, the employer did not ensure that personal fall arrest systems, when stopping a fall, were rigged such that the employee would not strike any lower level. Employees were installing exterior sheathing on a two-story multi-family residential structure. An employee secured the sheathing by leaning outward through a wall opening on the second floor. The employee fell approximately 11 feet to the ground when the guardrail failed. The employee had utilized a personal fall arrest system. The life line had too much slack and the fall was not arrested prior to the employee striking the ground below. This condition exposed the employee to an approximate 11 foot fall hazard.
