29 CFR 1910.28(b)(1)(i): Except as provided elsewhere in this section, the employer must ensure that each employee on a walking-working surface with an unprotected side or edge that is 4 feet (1.2 m) or more above a lower level is protected from falling by one or more of the following: (A) Guardrail systems per 29 CFR 1910.28(b)(1)(i)(A); (B) Safety net systems per 29 CFR 1910.28(b)(1)(i)(B); or (C) Personal fall protection systems, such as personal fall arrest, travel restraint, or positioning systems per 29 CFR 1910.28(b)(1)(i)(C). Dixon store no. 4900, yard, Sterling truck no. 4063: On or about September 25, 2018, fall protection systems were not provided for employees working atop loads of stacked material on flatbed delivery trailers that exposed them to fall hazards of approximately 10 feet. An employee fell approximately 10 feet onto a paved surface while working on top of stacked lumber bundles to adjust tie-down straps for securing cargo. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
