29 CFR 1926.964(a)(3)(i): When a pole was set, moved, or removed near an exposed energized overhead conductor, the pole cannot contact the conductor: Site- The employer did not ensure that employees setting new utility poles between live conductors did not contact energized overhead power lines where insulating pole protectors were not installed and minimum approach distances were not maintained. On or about April 30, 2018, employees setting a 50 foot utility pole between live conductors operating at 34.5 kv contacted an energized conductor, where insulating pole protectors were not in place, and the employee holding the butt of the pole sustained an electric shock when a non-insulated portion of their lower body contacted the energized utility pole.
