Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.333(c)(10): Only a qualified person following the requirements of paragraph (c) of this section may defeat an electrical safety interlock, and then only temporarily while he or she is working on the equipment. The interlock system shall be returned to its operable condition when this work is completed: On or about April 10, 2018 the supervisor defeated the safety interlock on an energized 480 volt "front brake line" cabinet to gain access to motor control circuitry and switch off a circuit breaker to perform work on a gearbox. Employee(s) were not qualified nor protected from electrical hazards, such as arc flash, while turning off the breaker inside of the energized the cabinet. Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
