29 CFR 1926.251(a)(1): Rigging equipment for material handling shall be inspected prior to use on each shift and as necessary during its use to ensure that it is safe. Defective rigging equipment shall be removed from service. (a) Bear Creek Tower - On or about March 28, 2018 employees were exposed to a struck-by hazard while lifting components to erect a telecommunications tower during a construction project due to damaged slings. These slings contained rips, tears, and illegible tags with no weigh capacity on them. Also the user did not follow the manufacturers warning for replacement.
