Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.217(e)(1)(i): It shall be the responsibility of the employer to establish and follow a program of periodic and regular inspections of his power presses to ensure that all their parts, auxiliary equipment, and safeguards are in a safe operating condition and adjustment. The employer shall maintain a certification record of inspections which includes the date of inspection, the signature of the person who performed the inspection and the serial number, or other identifier, of the power press that was inspected. On January 3, 2018 employees were exposed to struck-by hazards in that there were 12 presses (60 T Bliss #6, 110 T Danly #110, 100 T Stamtec #17, 60 T Bliss #4, 105 T Verson #27, 80 T Stamtec #18, 125 T Johnson #1, 200 T Stamtec #16, 27 T Johnson #22, 22 T Bliss #11, 250 T Verson #38, 250 T Verson #34) in use that were not being periodically inspected to ensure all their parts, equipment and safeguards were in safe operating condition.
