Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001E Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.454(a): The employer did not have each employee who performed work while on a scaffold trained by a person qualified in the subject matter to recognize the hazards associated with the type of scaffold being used and to understand the procedures to control or minimize those hazards: On or about December 7, 2017, Sloan Implement Company, Inc. had an employee exposed to approximate 11 foot fall hazards without fall protection, while working from a supported scaffold (parts box), which was lifted by a Toyota forklift. The employer did not provide scaffold training. This training would include: a. Nature of any electrical hazards, fall hazards, and falling object hazards in the work area, b. Correct procedures for dealing with electrical hazards and for erecting, maintaining, and disassembling the fall protection systems and falling object protection systems used, c. Proper use of the scaffold, and the proper handling of material on the scaffold, d. The maximum intended load and the load-carrying capacities of the scaffold used, e. Any other pertinent requirements of this subpart, L Scaffolds.
