29 CFR 1910.305(a)(2)(x): Flexible cords and cables were not protected from accidental damage, as might be caused, for example, by sharp corners, projections, and doorways or other pinch points: Date of Violation: On or about 11-21-2017 and times prior thereto, located at DOD Defense Agency Commissary (DeCA Norfolk), 1588 Mall Drive Norfolk, VA 23511 in the Meat Department, a) Employee(s) were exposed to electrical shock and fire hazards from an electrical power cord with plug coming from the overhead area to provide power at and near the meat bulker machines. The cord was wrapped around metal shelving brackets and was not protected from sharp edges. The electrical cord had visible damage and cuts to the outer jacket. b) Employee(s) were exposed to electrical shock and fire hazards from an electrical power cord with plug coming from the overhead area to provide power to the meat department equipment at or near the product meat tray racks. The cord was wrapped around metal shelving brackets and was not protected from sharp edges. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employee(s) and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
