Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.503(a)(1): The employer did not provide a training program for each employee potentially exposed to fall hazards to enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and the procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards: The employer is failing to provide employees with adequate and effective fall protection training prior to allowing them to work from an elevated catwalk. The employer is allowing the employees to work on a catwalk which has an unprotected side or edge without fall protection for the interior side fall of the surface being worked from. This training would allow each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and allow them to understand the proper procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards. The workers were exposed to falls of over 15 feet to concrete below. This was most recently documented at 200 E. Central Ave., Nebraska City, Nebraska on or about August 25, 2017 when the employer had employees working from the catwalk without any form of protective system and had not provided any training to them.
