Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guard rail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: The employer is failing to protect employees from fall hazards greater than 6 from the ground. The employer is allowing the employees to work on a catwalk which has an unprotected side or edge without fall protection for the interior side fall of the surface being worked from. The workers were exposed to a fall of over 15 feet to concrete below. This was most recently documented at 200 E. Central Ave., Nebraska City, Nebraska on or about August 25, 2017 when the employer had employees working from the catwalk without any form of protective system.
