Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.304(f): All woodworking tools and machinery did not meet other applicable requirements of American National Standards Institute, 01.1-1961, Safety Code for Woodworking Machinery. Section 7.5: Selection and Training of Operator. (a) Before an inexperienced workman is permitted to operate any woodworking machine, the workman shall receive careful instruction in the hazards of the machine and the safe method of operation: JOBSITE: The employer did not ensure through providing careful instruction, training and/or performing visual observation that the employee who was required to operate the Bosch Circular Saw, Model #CS10, to rip a piece of "improperly secured" wood was performing the "tasks" safely and appropriately at all times. On or about 08/10/2017, the circular saw kicked back while the employee was performing the tasks, and the employee sustained a partial amputation to left middle finger and a severe laceration to left ring finger from the incident.
