Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.106(e)(6)(i): Adequate precautions were not taken to prevent the ignition of flammable vapors from sources such as open flames; lightning; smoking; cutting and welding; hot surfaces; frictional heat; static, electrical, and mechanical sparks; spontaneous ignition, including heat-producing chemical reactions; and radiant heat: WASTE STORAGE AREA: On or about and at times prior to June 5, 2017, spent flammable solvents (including acetone, isopropyl alcohol, and lacquer thinner) and both acidic and alkaline electroplating solutions were poured off into a fiberboard drum containing waste paper, plastic gloves, and other debris. Chemical reactions of the solvents with either the electroplating solutions or combustible debris may generate heat leading to ignition.
