29 CFR 1910.265(c)(18)(i): Construction, operation, and maintenance of conveyors was not in accordance with American National Standard B20.1-1957, which is incorporated by reference as specified in Part 1910.6: Section 6 Design Features and Section 602 Pulleys, Sprockets, Sheaves, Drums, Blocks. a) Planer Mill; On or about May 24, 2017 and at times prior thereto the employer exposed employees to amputation hazards in that employees were required to work around unguarded chain and sprockets on the conveyor at the Roll Take Line. b) Planer Mill; On or about May 24, 2017 and at times prior thereto the employer exposed employees to amputation hazards in that employees were required to work around unguarded chain and sprockets on the conveyor at the Hydraulic Strapper Line. c) Planer Mill; On or about May 24, 2017 and at times prior thereto the employer exposed employees to amputation hazards in that employees were required to work around unguarded chain and sprockets on the conveyor at the rollers to the Hydraulic Strapper Line. d) Planer Mill; On or about May 24, 2017 and at times prior thereto the employer exposed employees to amputation hazards in that employees were required to work around unguarded chain and sprockets on the conveyor at the first chain on the Stacker Line. e) Planer Mill; On or about May 24, 2017 and at times prior thereto the employer exposed employees to amputation hazards in that employees were required to work around unguarded chain and sprockets on the conveyor at the pull chain before the Hydraulic Strapper Line. f) Planer Mill; On or about May 24, 2017 and at times prior thereto the employer exposed employees to amputation hazards in that employees were required to work around unguarded protruding shaft with an open keyway on the conveyor rollers near the Hydraulic Strapper Line. g) Saw Mill; On or about May 24, 2017 and at times prior thereto the employer exposed employees to amputation hazards in that employees were required to work around unguarded belt and pulleys on the Return Belt to the Edger. h) Saw Mill; On or about May 24, 2017 and at times prior thereto the employer exposed employees to amputation hazards in that employees were required to work around unguarded belt and pulleys on the Incline Belt from the Head Rig. i) Saw Mill; On or about May 24, 2017 and at times prior thereto the employer exposed employees to amputation hazards in that employees were required to work around unguarded chain and sprockets on the Infeed to the Sharp Chain Conveyor. j) Saw Mill; On or about May 24, 2017 and at times prior thereto the employer exposed employees to amputation hazards in that employees were required to work around protruding unguarded shaft with a keyway while sorting boards near the incline belt. Dudley Lumber Company, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.265(c)(18)(i), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 934646, citation number 1, item number 10 and was affirmed as a final order on March 4, 2014, with respect to a workplace located at 8575 Hwy 280 East, Salem AL.
