Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)The hazard of falling, employee was utilizing a fiberglass stepladder with contanimated feet while removing letters from the hotel marque, at 2712 Southwest Freeway, Houston, Texas 77098. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is glass reinforced plastic stepladders with contanimated feet shall be taken out of service in accordance with the American National Standard ANSI A14.5-2000 for Ladders-Portable Reinforced Plastic-Safety Requirements; the implementation of ANSI A14.5-2000 (9.4.1 Inspection and 9.4.6 Maintenance). Hazard:Falls, concussion, contusions, fractures and death.
