Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being crushed: WORKSITE: ON OR ABOUT 06/16/93, THE KUBOTA MODEL B-7200 TRACTOR WAS BEING USED TO FERTILIZE THE LAWN WHEN IT ROLLED OVER ON AN INCLINE. THE SEATBELT HAD BEEN DAMAGED PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT, RENDERING IT INOPERABLE. FEASIBLE ABATEMENT METHOD: INSPECT ALL MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT AT LEAST DAILY BEFORE BEING PLACED IN SERVICE. IF THE INSPECTION SHOWS ANY CONDITION, SUCH AS DAMAGED SEATBELTS, WHICH ADVERSELY AFFECT THE SAFETY OF THE MACHINES, THEY SHALL NOT BE PLACED IN SERVICE UNTIL CORRECTIONS ARE
