Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the potential of being struck by projectiles during test firing procedures: Test Firing Area: On or about February 10, 1995, adequate safeguards were not provided to prevent an employee from being struck by a projectile during the test firing of a firearm. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods include: a. isolated area for test firing b. use of enclosures c. use of a box trap where the muzzle of the firearm is placed in the trap
