Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001A Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) On or about June 2, 1997 employees were exposed to the hazard of falling or crushing injuries and death when riding the TMP and Millwright manlifts in that the electrical powered lift controls and associated mechanical and other safety equipment was not inspected by a competent person at intervals of not more than 30 days. "AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS...." to restart the monthly Inspection Program covering items similar to those in the Biron Division check list program last used in Dec. 1988 or as stipulated in ANSI A90.1-1969, Rule 401(a) Periodic Inspection. In The Alternative: 29 CFR 1910.68(e)(1): Manlift were not inspected by a competent designated person at intervals not exceeding 30 days: a) The monthly inspection program for both the TMP and Millwright Manlift which included the required items covered was last used in December 1988.ber
