Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Employees working in cellars 27B and 28B are exposed to potential harmful levels of nitrogen when entering the cellars after venting the Tea Tanks into the cellars. Among other methods of feasible and acceptable abatement to correct this hazards are: 1. Turn on exhaust fan prior to venting the tanks. Use oxygen meters to test room prior to re-entry and have employees wear O2 meters in tea cellar. 2. Install local ventilation in the tea cellars. 3. Install oxygen alarms at breathing zone level in rooms to warn employees of oxygen deficiency.
