Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.101(b): "Compressed gases." The in-plant handling, storage, and utilization of all compressed gases in cylinders, portable tanks, rail tankcars, or motor vehicle cargo tanks shall be in accordance with Compressed Gas Association Pamphlet P-1-1965, which is incorporated by reference as specified in Sec. 1910.6. a. Located in the welding area of the workplace: On or about February 15, 2017 and at times prior, employees were leak testing small stainless vessels through a pneumatic pressure test with carbon dioxide gas. The employer did not provide employees with a suitable means to regulate the gas pressure being transferred from the carbon dioxide cylinder to the stainless vessel, thereby exposing employees to a struck by hazard.
