29 CFR 1915.157(a): The employer did not ensure that employees used appropriate hand protection or protective clothing when exposed to hazards such as skin absorption of harmful substances, severe cuts, lacerations, abrasions, punctures, chemical burns, thermal burns, harmful temperature extremes, and sharp objects. a) Colonna's Shipyard, USACE Dredge McFarland, Auxiliary Machinery Room: On or about 10/29/2016, employees were not issued gloves, coveralls and face shield during hot oil flush. A dry fire in a heater caused a hose to rupture and employees were burned on the hands, face and body. Abatement certification and documentation required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date and method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement. Abatement documentation shall include documents demonstrating that abatement is complete, such as evidence of the purchase or repair of equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement or other written records.
