Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Employees were exposed to the hazards of falling from or being struck by the building trusses and walls as the masonry walls were not braced and the trusses were inadequately braced during erection. Among other methods, a feasible and recognized abatement would be to install temporary lateral bracing on the masonry walls and utilize temporary bracing for the trusses in accordance with the Truss Plate Institutes commentary and recommendation for bracing wood trusses (BWT-76), and the architects and truss manufacturers recommendations.
