29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. (a) Kitchen - An employee assigned to conduct food preparation operations daily was not provided long cuffed gloves or other protection against burn hazards while conducting his task of retrieving food items from the tandoor cooker with temperatures ranging from 180-330 degrees Fahrenheit, on or about August 2, 2016. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet), in addition, documentation demonstrating the abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
