Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fire/explosion hazard. a) Equity Co-op oil Company, E. 8th and Highway 34, Yuma, Colorado 80759: the employer did not ensure that sources of ignition, such as pilot lights and electrical appliances, located on the Bounder recreational vehicle (N.M. 4693rvk) were turned off during the filling of the LP-Gas container on the vehicle as required by NFPA 58 Storage and Handling of Liquefied Petroleum Gases - 1995, 4-2.3.2 (c). Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to turn off all sources of ignition, such as pilot lights, electric ignition devices, burners, electrical appliances, and engines, located on the vehicle being refueled.
