Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by or falling from falling trusses: FELLOWSHIP HALL: TRUSSES POSITIONED ON THE BUILDING FRAMEWORK, WERE NOT ADEQUATELY BRACED. AMONG OTHER METHODS ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD IS TO INSTALL ADEQUATE TEMPORARY LATERAL AND DIAGONAL BRACING DURING PLACEMENT OF THE TRUSSES. THIS BRACING SHOULD BE DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TRUSS PLATE INSTITUTE "HIB-91 SUMMARY SHEET" RECOMMENDATIONS FOR HANDLING AND INSTALLING WOOD TRUSSES.
