Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: EXPLOSION
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) On or about the morning of 09/25/98 for employees cleaning the Resolv-r BE-160 where the manufacturer's written operating instructions for cleaning the Resolv-r were not followed exposing employees to the potential for serious injury or death created by explosion and/or fire. Among others, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to ensure all employees required to operate, maintain, and clean the solvent recovery equipment are familiar with and follow the manufacturer's operating manual for the equipment.
