Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002A Hazard: GUARDING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: A 12 foot 1975 Mirro Craft aluminum boat that was over loaded by approximately 308 lbs. One method that would of been acceptable abatement would of been to make two trips, with only two employees in the boat and also have the U.S. Coast Guard tell you the weight capacity. On the jobsite - The 12 foot aluminum Mirro Craft boat with a maximum capacity of 575 lbs. with 3 people was over loaded with 4 men and approximately 308 lbs over the maximum weight.
