Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety & Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to a fall greater than sixteen feet from tripping on cleats and protruding double headed nails on an unsecured plank walkway going from the scaffold to the roof: Location; Rear 99 School Street, Chatham: An unsecured two plank wide walkway from the scaffold to the roof with protruding nail and cleats was used as an access to the roof. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to construct a secured safe walk way without tripping hazards.
