Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety & Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to a fall hazard while walking on an incline ramp that was over four feet in height at one end, and was at an angle greater than twenty degrees and was slippery due to water and mud on the wood planks. Jobsite; CP-202: Employees were walking on a wooden plank ramp that was not provided with handrails/guardrails and cleats to prevent a fall of over four feet to the ground below. Among one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install handrails along each side and to install cleats along the planks to prevent slipping and falls.
