Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Hazard of being struck by remote-controlled locomotive at Martin Metals, Flowood Site, Salvage Yard. On 12-8-93, the operator of the rmote-controlled "Switch Engine" was not required to give his/her undivided attention to locomotive under his/her control. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is require the operator of the remote controlled "Switch Engine" to give his undivided attention to the operation of the "Switch Engine".
