Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of hypothermia and/or drowning: (a) Ohoopee River and Highway 280, south of the new bridge - Sears and Roebuck aluminum johnboat, "Game Fisher" (Model 61292D), two (2) person capacity (385 pound maximum capacity) was used to ferry 3-4 employees at a time across the river, on or about 2/26/92. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard are: (a) Limit the use of the johnboat to the prescribed capacity. (b) Provide a larger capacity boat to ferry employees and equipment across the river.
