29 CFR 1910.265(c)(18)(i): Construction, operation, and maintenance of conveyors was not in accordance with ANSI B20.1 - 1957, which was incorporated by reference as specified in 1910.6, in that all exposed moving machinery parts that present a hazard to personnel were not mechanically or electrically guarded or guarded by location or position: a) Colorado Timber Resources, LLC at 210 County Road 21, Parshall, CO 80468: On or before July 25, 2015, the employer did not ensure that the following conveyors were guarded: 1) the outside waste inclined conveyor included a nip point hazard at the terminal roller at ground level, and the moving open metal slats also created a nip point hazard; 2) the planer conveyor included rotating belts and pulleys at approximately 3 feet above the floor that were not guarded; and 3) The blue conveyors for the rough stacker included amputation hazards involving an unguarded terminal sprocket and chain, a second unguarded sprocket and chain near the motor at ground level, and an unguarded terminal roller and belt; and Conditions presented nip points and amputation hazards. Abatement note: ANSI B20.1 - 1957 Section 6 provides that, "Safety guards shall be provided on all types of equipment at driving mechanisms, terminals and take-ups where the unguarded parts may constitute a hazard to the operating personnel."
