Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to a serious fall hazard while working on the platform of the Wirth drill rig onboard the IB 909:: (a) Jobsite IB 909: Employees worked and stood on the Wirth Drill rig which was used as a hammer while suspended from a crane to drive the A casing into the seabed floor exposing them to a serious fall hazard. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to use a proper hammer or tippet to drive the A casing into the seabed floor to the proper refusal. Employees must be removed from the danger zone.
