Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: UNAPEQUIP
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Hazard of not receiving instruction in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions in the work environment, in that on May 20, 1992, employee backed equipment without aid of crew member on the ground providing direction. ABATEMENT: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to train employees in safe methods of backing equipment to control or eliminate exposure to hidden obstacles or hazards.
