Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) O'Brien-Newark CoGen Plant Employees exposed to the hazard of fire/smoke, due to the areas affected by the shutting down of the fire sprinkler system, not being inspected for the increased risks of fire spread, as required by National Fire Protection Association, NFPA 25 sect. 10-5(b) as referenced by Sect. 10-6. Inspection for increased risk of fire spread during fire sprinkler shut down is one feasible and acceptable method of abatement. Violation occurred on or about 12/20/92 through 12/25/92
