Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001C Hazard: UNAPEQUIP

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) O'Brien-Newark CoGen Plant Employees exposed to the hazard of fire/smoke, due to the fire sprinkler system being down, with the extent of the shut down and expected duration of the shut down, not being determined by the employer as required by the National Fire Protection Association, NFPA 25 sect. 10-5(a) as referenced by Sect. 10-6. Determining the extent of shut down duration is one feasible and acceptable method of abatement. Violation occurred on or about 12/20/92 through 12/25/92
