Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 003A Hazard: EXPLOSION
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: The hazards of fire and explosion on September 26, 1989 while placing tubing into the Milam #4 gas well located off the west end of Franklin County Road #47, southwest of Ozark, Arkansas, when the 75% methanol, 25% water solution unloaded from the well. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to utilize blow-out prevention equipment when bringing wells into production.
