Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of electrocution through contact with a current carrying device. (a) Hamlin Electric, County Rd. 29 and 18, Loveland Employees were exposed to electrocution through inadvertent contact with a current carrying device. An employee was electrocuted while working on a pole when the guy wires became energized and he was not wearing rubber gloves. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to require employees working from a pole and near a conductor to wear rubber gloves as per the Colorado Statewide Underground Overhead Line Accident Prevention Manual paragraph 2.03B.
