Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being crushed by a modular trailer while employees were lowering it to a specified height of approximately 6 inches on August 28, 1995: (a)Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method would be to follow the Alabama Manufactured Housing Commission Code 535-X-13-.06 (3): " A 2"X8"X16" treated wood or hardwood plate or a concrete cap shall be placed on top of the pier to serve as a pier cap". (b)Among other methods, on feasible and acceptable abatement method would be to have an individual in the work crew that was certified by the Alabama Manufactured Housing Commission Code 535-X-12-.03(b): "Each applicant shall satisfactorily complete, within six months from the date of approval of the application, an installers course conducted by the commission...)
