Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: LIFTING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Employees in the high cube glue area operating Dayton hoist No. 5 were exposed to the hazards of being struck by fiberglass, high cube roofs and/or the homemade device. Among other other methods, one feasi- ble and acceptable method to correct this hazard is the use of approved slings or other lifting devices designed, manufactured, load rated, and proof tested in accordance with ANSI/ASME B30.9-1984 entitled "Overhead Hoists" or ANSI/ASME B30.20 - 1985, entitled "Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices."
