29 CFR 1915.73(d): When employees were exposed to unguarded edges of decks, platforms, flats, or similar flat surfaces, more than 5 feet above a solid surface, the edges were not guarded by adequate guardrails meeting the requirements of 29 CFR 1915.71(j)(1) and (2). a) Amidships of the Main Machinery Room #1 of the USNS Zeus: The top rail and midrail of the wire cable guard placed on the starboard and aft sides of the opening was not taut as required by 1915.71(j)(2). b) Starboard quarter of the Main Machinery Room #2 of the USNS Zeus: A wire cable guard (top rail and midrail) used as fall protection at a hole cut into the starboard quarter of the ship was not taut as required by 1915.71(j)(2). Detyens Shipyards, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard , which was contained in OSHA inspection number 308329739, citation number 01,item number 05 and was affirmed as a final order on August 12, 2011, with respect to a workplace located at the Dredge B.E. Lindholm Detyens Shipyards, Inc.
