Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 012 Hazard:
29 CFR 1915.81(a)(3): The employer stored materials in a manner that created a hazard for employees. a) Shipping and Receiving Area: Items stored on top of shelving were found to not be plumb and square, and they were listing toward (or hanging over) the edge of the shelving. Some pallets on which items had been stored had failed, causing the stored items to be unstable which could fall on employees working in the area. Items included: wooden pallets, cardboard and wooden boxes full of miscellaneous items, portable generators, packing material, stored paper records, etc. b) South wall of Building 256: Metal electrical panels and wooden spools containing electrical wiring were found to be stored on shelving in a manner that was not plumb and square, and the items were listing to the edge of the shelving exposing employees to struck by hazards. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED
