Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LIFTING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being crushed by the load being lifted and falling upon them due to the load not being well secured: a) 598 Pavonia Avenue, Jersey City, NJ 07063 Employees were exposed to a load which was being lifted to the upper floors of the building without it being well secured to the lifting device. This operation is not in conformity with the American National Standards Institute B30.15-1973, Section 15-3.2.3.(a)(2). Among othermethods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install securing devices or measures to prevent load displacement at any ange/postion. Violation occurred on or about 6/1/90
