Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hazard of contact with overhead high voltage energized electrical conductors: a) Employee working from aerial lift, trimming tree limbs from around overhead 13,000 volt A.C. electrical lines at 1373 Hainesport, Mt. Laurel Road in Mt. Laurel, NJ during line clearance tree trimming operations on or about 11/22/88. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to require employees to adhere to the clearances from energized conductors given in tabel 1 of ANSI Z133.1-1982 Section 4-2.4 which requires a minimum of two feet between worker and energized line.
