Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: ...electrical shock. South of the northwest corner of the lot for 2 Hillcrest Dr., Carbondale, IL, where employees engaged in line clearance tree trimming operations were exposed to the hazard of electrical shock presented by working in a tree whose truck, branches and/or foliage were located within two(2) feet of energized 7,200 volts AC, phase-to-ground, primary and 110 volt AC, phase-to-ground, secondary electrical lines. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to de-energize such electrical lines during the course of such line clearance work.
